LR Men’s Basketball Adds Four Transfers

Lenoir-Rhyne head men’s basketball coach Brent Owen officially announced the addition of four transfers to the roster beginning in 2024-25. Junior Hodnett (Rio Rancho, N.M./ENMU), Jaxon Koroll (Chestermere, Alberta, Canada/ENMU), Conrad Luczynski (Bartlett, Ill./ENMU) and Shem Sawy (Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Edge Prep.) all officially signed with the Bears.

“I couldn’t be more excited to add these four young men to our program. All four are great players and great people who our fans will enjoy on and off the court. The size we are bringing in with Conrad, Jaxon, and Shem immediately makes us different than anyone in the conference and Junior Hodnett will be one of the best shooters in the SAC.”, Coach Owen said.

Hodnett is a 6’3 junior guard, Hodnett is coming from Eastern New Mexico and is a deadly sharpshooter as Hodnett hit 42% of his three-pointers this season as Hodnett averaged 9.1 points off the bench for the Greyhounds this past season.

“He (Hodnett) draws so much attention from the opposing defense because of his elite shooting. When he is on the floor he makes everyone else better because you simply cannot help off of him.”

Koroll is a seven footer and will be entering his sophomore season. Koroll averaged 13 rebounds per 40 in his first year and will be also coming from Eastern New Mexico.

“Jaxon’s nickname at ENMU was “Polar Bear” so it is fitting that he is joining the Lenoir-Rhyne Bears program. Jaxon brings strength to the low block that is incredibly difficult to handle for opposing big guys. He demands a double team in the post and is a willing passer which makes for pretty simple offense”

Luczunski is a 7’3 sophomore center coming from Eastern New Mexico. Luczunski played in all 32 games his freshman campaign and scored 6.3 points while grabbing 5.3 rebounds in just 14.2 minutes per game.

“Conrad has great feel for the game. At 7’3 he can score on the block and make an open shot, but also has great vision and passing ability. He’s a great shot blocker and has a knack for getting offensive rebounds to keep possessions alive. He will make
an instant impact for our program.”

Sawy is a 6’8 wing from Edge Prep in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Sawy plays with high energy and can score from every level of the floor and can make impact early in his career.

“I’m excited about Shem. His potential is through the roof. At 6’8 he can shoot, dribble, and pass. He’s got really good athleticism and a high motor. He’s the type of freshman who can help us right away and lead us in the future.”
