LR Men’s Basketball Adds Ervin to Staff
Lenoir-Rhyne men’s basketball head coach Everick Sullivan has announced the addition of Michael Ervin as the program’s assistant coach. Ervin comes to Hickory after serving as the assistant coach at Catawba Valley Community College.
While at CVCC, Ervin helped the team to a 20-12 overall record in his lone season. Ervin worked with recruiting and scouting as well as working with academic advisors to help support the student-athletes. Ervin also spent time training and scheduling and with practice planning while also supervising weight room workouts.
Prior to his time at CVCC, Ervin was a student manager at Appalachian St. for the 2021-22 season where the Mountaineers went 19-5. He assisted on and off the court with practices and game setup and assisted with skill development.
From 2019-2021, Ervin was an assistant varsity coach at Freedom High School where the program posted a 29-1 record during that time. Ervin was vital in strategy and player development as well as strength training workouts. Freedom would go on to win the 2019-20 State Championship during Ervin’s tenure.
Ervin graduated from Appalachian St. with a bachelor of science in health and physical education with a concentration in sports science and coaching in 2022.
