Long Time Foothills Regional Airport Board Member Honored

Lenoir City Council recently honored and thanked Charles Thomas for his nearly 25 years of service on the Foothills Regional Airport Authority. Mayor Joe Gibbons read and presented a resolution to Mr. Thomas during the June 4 City Council meeting.

Mayor Gibbons said “Charles has been a part of [Foothills Regional Airport Authority] from way back, even before I was on the board. Thank you, sir. We appreciate your service very much.”

Mr. Thomas has served on the Airport Authority since the year 2000, when he was recommended to the board by former Mayor David Barlow. He plans to retire from the board at the end of this month.

The Foothills Regional Airport Authority oversees the operation of the Foothills Regional Airport, which is located between Lenoir and Morganton. The Authority meets at noon on the last Wednesday of every month at the airport. The meetings are open to the public.
