48-year-old Larry Wade Stanley, Jr. of Lincolnton has been found guilty of assault on law enforcement officers in connection with an incident that occurred in June of 2019. He was sentenced to 14-to-20 years in prison. A jury handed down the guilty verdict in Lincoln County Superior Court on November 15. He was sentenced the following day.
In June of 2019, Stanley was charged with assault on law enforcement officers in the detention center after he refused to return to his cell. During the incident, Stanley and two other inmates assaulted four Lincoln County Sheriff’s Detention Officers who were on duty at the time. The Officers sustained injuries that required treatment at the hospital.
The trial began on November 13 of this year. Stanley’s sentence will be served at the end of a sentence that he is currently serving following his conviction as an habitual felon. His projected release date on that sentence is January 2028.
