The Lenoir-Rhyne Women’s Soccer Team blanked Coker 4-0 Monday Afternoon. The Bears defense held Coker to just two shots for the entire 90 minutes.
The match started off with Stephanie Figueiredo scoring a low-driven ball in the 20′ off an assist from Allie Zueger to put LR up 1-0. The Bears outshot the Cobras 11-0 in the first half.
Zueger wasn’t through, setting up Scarlett Kelly for a header in the 62′ putting LR up 2-0. Kara Gavaghan then took advantage of a rebound and laced a ball through the net in the 70′, to put LR up 3-0. Abbie Biddle then put the dagger in the Cobras scoring in the 81′ to make the final 4-0.
LR outshot Coker 18-2. and the Bears garnered more corners than the Cobras 5-0.
Alexis Werve got her first start of her career and earned her first clean sheet for the Bears in goal.
Lenoir-Rhyne is now 9-1-1 all-time in games against Coker.
The Bears have now scored 10 or more goals within the first three games of the season for third time in the last four years.
Lenoir-Rhyne remains unbeaten in pod play at 2-0-1 on the season. Lenoir-Rhyne will be back in action Thursday at home against Catawba at 7:30 p.m.
