Lenoir-Rhyne’s Wood Named SAC Softball Player of the Week

The South Atlantic Conference announced its WePlayed Sports Softball Players of the Week for games played during the second week of the 2024 season and Lenoir-Rhyne’s Lora Beth Wood was named the Player of the Week.

Wood, a graduate student from Madison, N.C., went 9-for-16 with two home runs and seven RBI to lead the Lenoir-Rhyne Bears to a 3-1 week. On Wednesday, she hit two home runs and went 3-for-3 in the win against UNC Pembroke. Wood drew three walks with zero strikeouts to get on base at a .650 clip and six of her nine hits went for extra bases, including four doubles. She also added a 1.188 slugging percentage on the week.

Wood and the Bears return to action this weekend when they travel to North Georgia for a weekend tournament.
