Lenoir-Rhyne’s McRea Earns All-American Honors in 400 IM

For the fifth time in his career, Micah McRea has earned All-American status during the NCAA Championship. McRea in his fourth straight trip to Nationals finished in eleventh place in the 400 IM on day three of the 2023 NCAA DII Swimming & Diving Championship in Indianapolis, Indiana.

In the prelims to start the day, McRea finished 12th with a time of 3:53.08. McRea was one of 29 swimmers to qualify for the championship and race in the morning heats hoping to qualify for the finals. The top eight times moved to the championship final heat while the next eight times qualify for the “B” final. The top 16 in each event earn All-American Honors.

With is 12th place finish in prelims, McRea earned a spot in the B final on Thursday night. McRea improved his time and finished in 11th place in the final heat to earn second team All-American honors. McRea touched the wall at 3:52.76 which is almost identical to his time last season (3:52.73) where McRea finished in 12th place.

This is the also the third straight year, McRea has earned All-American honors in the 400 IM as McRea finished 14th in 2021.
