Lenoir-Rhyne’s Zach Cox has been named the South Atlantic Conference Varsity Gems Men’s Tennis Player of the Week for matches played during week one of the 2023 season, the Conference announced.

Cox, a sophomore from Peterborough, England, went undefeated at No. 2 singles and was 1-1 at No. 2 doubles for the Bears last week. He won his singles match against Barton, 7-6, 6-1 and was victorious against Newberry, winning 7-6, 6-1. He also picked up a win at No. 2 doubles against Newberry winning 6-3, all the the City of Florence Invitational.

This is Cox’s first Player of the Week selection this season as this was also the SAC’s first edition of recognizing the player of the week in 2023.
