Lenoir-Rhyne’s Colley Named SAC Women’s Golfer Freshman of the Year

The South Atlantic Conference named their 2023-24 Golf awards this morning and Lenoir-Rhyne’s Freshman Charlotte Colley was named Freshman of the Year. In addition, Colley was named Second Team All-Conference after her first year in Hickory. This is the eight straight year the Bears had at least one selection on the SAC All-Conference team.

Colley is the first LR golf to win Freshman of the Year since 2016 when Abbey Hartsell won. Colley turned it up this spring as Colley finished in the top five in all five events this spring including a second place finish at the Battle of Hilton Head. After finishing runner up, Colley followed that up with back to back third place finishes at Low Tide Intercollegiate and the Jerry Surratt Memorial Tournament. In total, six top-10 finishes in her first season.

Colley had 8 of her 15 rounds under par (72) this spring including two rounds of 69 including her opening round of the Lady Bearcat Invitational in her last tournament. Her average stroke score on the year was 74 and ranks No. 42 in the nation heading into the SAC Championship starting on Sunday.
