Lenoir-Rhyne’s Brown Qualifies For Pair of Indoor Track Finals

In the first day of the 2024 NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships, Alexis Brown qualified for both the women’s 60-meter and 200-meter dash final events.

In her first event of the weekend, Brown out-ran her competition in the 60-meter race with a first-place time of 7.21. The sophomore not only recorded a new personal best time in the event, but also tied the facility record at Pittsburg State University.

After her stellar performance in the 60-meter event, Brown additionally qualified for the 200-meter race with a time of 23.72. The Mableton, Ga. native was able to post a new seasonal best en route to winning her heat. Brown seeks to earn her second-straight national championship in the event after taking the top spot in last year’s championships.

Additionally in the 200-meter dash, Victoria Aransiola participated in the event and recorded a time of 24.21. However, the 13th-place finish was not good enough to qualify for Saturday’s final.

In the women’s 800-meter event, freshman Carolin Fuehren posted a time of 2:12.17 to finish 16th in the race. However, the time was not fast enough to qualify for Saturday’s event.

The lone male LR participant on Friday was Bamidele Ajayi, who ran in the men’s 400-meter event. The freshman finished with a 13th-place time of 48.33, which was just not quick enough to qualify for Saturday’s final.

However, Ajayi’s weekend is not finished yet as he will participate in the men’s 4×400-meter relay alongside Marcus Crumpler, Clarence McGill and Olawole Olanrewaju on Saturday. The start time for the final event is set for 8:45 p.m. ET.

For Brown, she will begin her Saturday with the 60-meter dash at 6:30 p.m. ET, followed by the 200-meter race at 7:55 p.m. ET.
