Lenoir-Rhyne’s Brown Named Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Year

Lenoir-Rhyne’s Alexis Brown has been named the 2024 South Atlantic Conference Women’s Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Year for the second consecutive season, the conference office announced Friday (April 5).

Brown, who hails from Mableton, Georgia, swept the sprints at the 2024 NCAA DII Indoor Track & Field Championships. She equaled the NCAA DII record of 7.18 to win the 60 meters and won the 200 meters by 0.14 seconds with a time of 23.32. In her two seasons as a Bear, Brown has collected three total indoor national titles.

Earlier in the season, Brown completed the same double at the SAC Indoor Championships as she collected gold in the 60-meter and 200-meter events. After earning 20 points for the Bears, Brown was named the SAC Outstanding Track Athlete of the Meet. She was voted the SAC WePlayed Sports Women’s Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week for her efforts during the week of December 5. Brown also collected honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), as she was named the 2024 Women’s Southeast Region Track Athlete of the Year.

The SAC Women’s Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Year award is determined by a vote by the league’s head coaches.
