Lenoir-Rhyne Women’s Triathlon Wins at ETSU Aquathlon

The Lenoir-Rhyne Women’s Triathlon Team picked up right where they left off in 2022 with a first-place finish in the ETSU Aquathlon to start the 2023 season.

The Bears recorded 116 points in their first competition of the year. The hosts, ETSU, came in second place with 101 points.

Sabrina Fleig had the best individual performance for the Bears with a time of 18:17; only ETSU’s Josi Seerig had a better time of 17:47. Fleig also had the best run time out of all LR participants by posting a 12:22 mark.

Claudia Teran-Romagosa, who finished third overall in the event, had the best swim time out of all Bears with a time of 5:44. The sophomore ended the competition with a time of 18:32.

Zoila Sicilia recorded a fifth-place finish in her first collegiate event after posting a time of 18:43. Not too far behind her was Eliska Rihova, who finished with a 18:52 sixth-place performance.

Seniors Teresa Vesely and Sayti Plank also secured Top 10 finishes with the two finishing with times of 18:58 and 19:56, respectively.

The Lenoir-Rhyne Women’s Triathlon Team will return to action on Saturday, Sept. 9 for the Beaver Creek event in Pittsburgh, Pa.
