Lenoir-Rhyne Women’s Triathlon Has Seven Named All-American

In addition to earning back-to-back national titles, the Lenoir-Rhyne Women’s Triathlon Team had seven of its athletes titled to the Division II All-American Team.

In total, the Bears had three of their athletes named to the first team, three were named to the second team and one was named as an honorable mention.

The first team was spearheaded by Sabrina Fleig, who finished with the best time amongst Division II participants with a time of 1:04:35.6. The sophomore was a minute faster than the rest of the Division II field, and posted the fifth fastest time in the running portion with a performance of 18:10.

Eliska Rihova and Zoila Sicilia were also named to the first team after the pair finished in the top six amongst Division II participants. Both athletes had decorated seasons as Rihova recorded a second-place finish in the East Regional while Sicilia was named all-region freshman of the year.

Claudia Teran-Romagosa, who finished eighth amongst Division II participants, was the fastest LR athlete to be named to the second team thanks to her time of 1:09:00.1. The sophomore notched the fastest LR time in the swimming portion of the event with a time of 10:47.

Teresa Vesely and Sayti Plank were also named to the second team as the seniors finished 10th and 13th, respectively, in the Division II competition. The pair also finished in the top 70 amongst all participants as Vesley tallied a time of 1:09:58.8 while Plank recorded a time of 1:10:52.8.

Rounding out the All-Americans is Nanette Nikolajsen, who was named as an honorable mention. The senior recorded a time of 1:12:18.7 to finish in the top 20 amongst Division II participants.
