Lenoir-Rhyne Women’s Track and Field Win Anderson’s Electric City Invite

Lenoir-Rhyne women’s track and field won the Electric City Invite at Anderson, and the men took 2nd. The Bear women scored 119 points to finish ahead of 2nd-place Southern Wesleyan that had 86 points. The men scored 96 points to finish in 2nd behind Carson-Newman.

On the women’s side, the Bears took the top three spots in the 100 meter dash, with Melody Jones in 1st (11.98 seconds), Emmanuella Kone in 2nd (12.16 seconds), and Jordan Shealey in 3rd (12.26 seconds). Shealey and Kone took 4th and 5th respectively in the 200 meter dash.

Kylie Dahlberg had a pair of 2nd-place finishes, first in the 800 (2:17.69), and then again in the 1500 (4:37.62). Janet Kwambai also took 4th in the 1500.

In the field events, Marlesia Walker finished 3rd in the discus (38.63 meters), and Olivia Jackson finished 2nd in the hammer throw (44.95 meters).

Jones won the long jump with a leap of 5.63 meters, and Pearl Ballard and Lacey Triplett took 2nd and 3rd respectively in the pole vault, clearing 3.10 meters.

Holly Kone took 2nd in the triple jump (11.43 meters) to round out the notable finishes for the Bears.

On the men’s side, Marlin Davis and Trent Davis II both had monster days on the track for the Bears. Marlin took 2nd in the 100 meter dash (10.56 seconds), and Trent took 3rd (10.61 seconds). Then, in the 200 meter dash, Trent took 3rd (21.37 seconds), and Marlin took 4th (21.52 seconds).

John Sisson grabbed a 3rd-place finish in the 400 meter dash (48.31 seconds). Ellis Horton was 3rd in the discus (44.41 meters), 3rd in the hammer throw (46.24 meters), and 4th in the shot put (14.23 meters). Josh Wise also took 3rd in the javelin throw (51.27 meters).

Mike Karicher and Chris Reichenbach tied for 2nd in the pole vault (4.40 meters).

Nick Henriques was 2nd in the triple jump (13.88 meters).

The 4×100 team also grabbed a 2nd-place finish.

The Bears will host the LR Outdoor Open next Saturday in their final event of preparation before the SAC Outdoor Championships in the first weekend of May.
