Lenoir-Rhyne Women’s Tennis Falls to 15th Ranked Wingate
The Lenoir-Rhyne Women’s Tennis Team ended their regular season home slate with a 5-2 loss to No. 15 Wingate.
Lucy Whelan had an incredible performance on her senior day, as she took a straight set victory at No. 2 singles over Suzuka Sambyakugari in a 7-6, 7-5 outcome.
That is not the only match that the graduate student came out on top, as Alicia Wahlberg and herself posted a 6-3 victory in No. 1 Doubles. In addition to that result, LR captured the doubles point after the combined effort of Sandy Mitsou and Jessica Fuchs clinched a 6-1 win at No. 2 Doubles.
Unfortunately, the rest of the afternoon did not play into the Bears favor, as Wingate took the other five singles matches in straight sets.
The Lenoir-Rhyne Women’s Tennis Team will close out the regular season on Friday, April 14, with a road trip to Harrogate, Tenn. to face Lincoln Memorial at 2:00 p.m.
