Lenoir-Rhyne Women’s Tennis Bounced From South Atlantic Conference Tournament
The Lenoir-Rhyne Women’s Tennis Team bowed out of the SAC Women’s Tennis Tournament with a 4-0 quarterfinal loss to No. 13 Wingate.
The Bears and the Bulldogs had some competitive matchups in doubles to start off the match, but both outcomes fell in Wingate’s favor to earn the doubles point.
The No. 1 doubles team of Alicia Wahlberg and Lucy Whelan and No. 3 doubles team of Evelin Menyhart and Natalie Lutz each suffered a 6-4 defeat in their matches.
Moving into singles, Wingate clinched the match with taking three straight-set victories over LR. At the No. 3 line, Whelan was on the wrong side of a 6-1, 6-2 result while Lutz was handed a 6-3, 6-2 defeat at the No. 5 line.
The Bulldogs secured advancement into the semifinal round when Flaminina Guidantoni defeated Menyhart in No. 4 singles with a 6-4, 6-1 result.
