Lenoir-Rhyne Women’s Soccer Stays Perfect in Conference Play
On Senior Day, the #13 ranked Lenoir-Rhyne Women’s Soccer team won their 10th SAC game of the season for just the second time in program history as the Bears defeated Lincoln Memorial, 2-0. The Bears matched the 2014 team in conference victories. The Bears moved to 10-0 in SAC play as Neve Duston and Evan O’Leary each scored their sixth goal of the season as the victory will set up a regular season finale against #1 Catawba with the SAC title on the line on Wednesday night in Salisbury.
The Bears got on the board in the 19th minute when Elin Hansson passed it to Duston on her right side as Duston scored to the lower far post for what ended up being the game winner. O’Leary gave the Bears an insurance goal in the 71st minute as she took the rebound off a save from Aly Ramsey. O’Leary hit the crossbar but it bounced the Bears way and snuck inside the line.
Kristin Oliver got the win in goal as Oliver stopped the only shot she saw. S.A. Phillips played the second half in goal.
LR outshot the Railsplitters 23-4 as LMU only took one shot in the second half. The Bears had a 9-1 advantage on corner kicks this afternoon.
The Bears have won four straight games against LMU with the win. Acton had a hat trick against LMU that last time these two teams met in Hickory on October 2, 2021.
The Bears 39 assists in third most in one single season. This is the fifth season the Bears have had at least 10 shutouts. LR had a tied a program best with 12 last season.
Duston played in her 86th match with this contest, fourth most in program history. Duston is five away from the record. The Bears honored their seven seniors before the game in a pregame ceremony.
Lenoir-Rhyne improves to 12-0-3 overall, 10-0 in the South Atlantic Conference. Bears will head to Catawba on Wednesday to close the regular season as the SAC title is on the line. Kick-off is schedule for 7:30 PM.
