Lenoir-Rhyne Women’s Soccer Easily Handles Carson-Newman
No. 22 Lenoir-Rhyne Women’s Soccer team moved to 7-0 in SAC play with a 3-0 at Carson-Newman on Saturday afternoon. The win was the Bears 12th straight conference win as LR. Elin Hansson scored her 10th goal of the season then assisted on both Louise Berg’s and Neve Duston’s goals. Ria Acton become just the 4th person in program history with double digit assists in a season with her assist tonight.
The Bears were held to just four shots in the first half but half of them found the back of the net as Hansson scored her 10th goal of the season in the 17th minute then assists on Berg’s goal in the 30th minute. LR only mustard three shot attempts in the second half but also connected on one of them shots as a double assist from Acton to Hansson to Duston give the Bears a three goal advantage as the Bears have won five of the seven SAC games by at least three goals.
The Eagles were held to one shot on the night as Kristin Oliver did stop that only shot LR defense allowed in their 7th shutout of the season. LR sweeps their three games road streak and now will head home for three straight games before finishing the regular season at Catawba.
The Bears have won five in a row against Carson-Newman. LR has not lost in Jefferson City since September of 2015.
The Bears are 16-0-2 in conference play under Head Coach Dean Ward’s two seasons at the helm. LR has not lost a SAC game since October 30th 2021 against Wingate,a span of 19 games.
Acton moves into a tie for 5th all-time in assists for the program.
Lenoir-Rhyne improves to 9-0-3, 7-0 SAC. Bears will return home to face Coker on Wednesday October 11th at 5:00 PM. This will start a three game home stand for LR.
