Lenoir-Rhyne Women’s Soccer Draws With Mount Olive

For the second straight game to open the season, the Lenoir-Rhyne Women’s Soccer Team played to a draw as the Bears and Mount Olive both were held without a goal on Saturday afternoon.

The Bears outshot the Trojans 21-6 during the contest but could not break through against Mount Olive. The Trojans goalkeeper Nicole Solicito made eight saves for Mount Olive while Kristin Oliver made two saves for the Bears.

LR had a 5-4 advantage on corner kicks as the Bears lone goal this season has came off a corner kick. 20 different Bears played at least 14 minutes in the contest.

The Trojans opened the season with three straight games against SAC opponents. Mount Olive lost to LMU to open the season and will face Wingate next week. The Bears move to 7-0-1 all time against Mount Olive.

This was the first meeting in Mount Olive since the 2010 season.

This contest was the first 0-0 draw since the NCAA first round Tournament upset of Catawba on November 19th 2021. The Bears ended up winning on PK’s to advance and ultimately went to the final four.

The Bears will return home to face Lees-McRae on Wednesday. Kick-off is schedule for 5:00 PM.
