The match started off with LR conceding a penalty kick in the 11th minute in which Wingate’s Chandler Hendrix capitalized and made the game 1-0. LR would battle back and get a free kick in the 13th minute from just outside the 18 yard line and Ria Acton curled a low driven ball past the keeper to tie it up 1-1.
Both teams would stay locked defensively as Wingate outshot LR 16-10. Hickory High grad Grayson Cameron was a difference maker for LR with eight saves on the day.
Wingate garnered more corners than LR 7-6.
