Lenoir-Rhyne Women’s Lacrosse Pick Up First Conference Win of Season

The Lenoir-Rhyne Women’s Lacrosse team defeated Emory & Henry 21-2 as the Bears earned their first SAC victory of the season and snap their seven game winless streak. Kirra Olson had a career high five goals for the Bears while Chloe Christensen, Rylie McGhan and Madison Brugger each had three goals as the Bears exploded for 21 goals on the afternoon. The Bears will step out of SAC play to travel to Mount Olive on Saturday.

The game was tied 1-1 before the Bears scored the last seven goals of the quarter to take a 8-1 lead after the first period. The Bears scored six goals in the second period and LR took a 14-1 lead into halftime. Bears scored 7 more times in the second half.

Mina Hicks had both goals for E&H as Hicks second goal in the third period stop the Bears run. Nine different Bears scored on the afternoon as LR cruised to a 21-2 win.

Christensen stuffed the box score adding four groundballs, five draw controls and two caused turnovers. LR forced 19 turnovers on the day and had nine caused turnovers lead by three from Olson. Sally Friesen made two saves in goal for the Bears while Mckenzie Walsh made one save.

Olson has scored in every game but one game this year. Her previous high was three goals on April 8th, 2023 against Tusculum.

This was the first even meeting between these programs as the Wasps are in their first year as a program. The Bears only have one home game left this season on March 30th against Newberry.

The 21 goals is the second most this season, Bears scored 23 to open the season against South Wesleyan.

Lenoir-Rhyne is now 2-7 overall, 1-5 in the South Atlantic Conference. The Bears will step out of conference play to travel to Mount Olive on Saturday for a 3:00 start.
