Lenoir-Rhyne Women’s Lacrosse Lose to 22nd Ranked Roberts Wesleyan
No. 22 Roberts Wesleyan scored the first 10 goals of the game and handed Lenoir-Rhyne a home loss on Wednesday evening at Moretz Stadium in the first night game of the season, 13-3.
Chloe Christensen and Ellie Campbell each had two goals on the night with Campbell adding an assist for a three-point evening. Christensen added three ground balls, two caused turnovers and a team-high five draw controls.
The Bears went just 1-for-8 in free position shots and were held to just 11 shots. Annie Mulhall led the visitors with with five goals and Tannah O’Neil-Blake had a goal and three assists. Emma Blumenstock had for goals.
Liz Black caused three turnovers for LR and Isabelle Dunnam had two.
The four goals were a season-low for LR and the lowest since scoring two against Queens on March 26 last year. LR has won two games against ranked teams in program history.
The Bears fall to 19-24 all-time in games in February. This was the first all-time meeting between these two programs.
Roberts Wesleyan becomes the 49th different opponent for LR in program history.
LR drops to 1-3 on the season. The Bears will continue their six-game home stand to open the season with a game against Mars Hill on March 4 at 1 p.m.
