Lenoir-Rhyne Women’s Lacrosse Falls to Anderson in SAC Play

Up 5-3 at halftime, Anderson went on to score seven of eight goals in the third period to stretch their lead to 12-4 as the Trojans defeated the Bears 14-6 on the afternoon. Chloe Christensen scored two goals for the Bears while Sally Friesen made ten saves in goal for the Bears.

Kirra Olson got the first goal of the game as the Bears stuck just 1:13 into the game. However, that was the last goal of the first quarter for LR as the Trojans scored the last four of the quarter.

Just three goals were scored in the second period but Christensen scored the first and last goal of the frame to cut the lead to 5-3 at halftime. The third quarter was all Trojans as Anderson scored seven of eight goals in the frame to stretch the lead to 12-4.

Ellie Campbell and Olivia Newton added goals in the 4th quarter but the Bears fell 14-6 on the afternoon. Anneleise Meyer had four draw controls and three caused turnovers.

Friesen had ten saves inside the pipes for the Bears.

This is Anderson’s first trip to Hickory as Anderson is in just their second year as a program.

Christensen had four goals in the Bears 15-14 win in last years game. Including this contest, the Bears have four of the next five between the bricks. The Bears will then finish with five of six on the road to close the regular season.

Lenoir-Rhyne drops to 1-4 overall, 0-2 in South Atlantic Conference play. The Bears will travel to #24 Limestone next Saturday for a 1:00 PM start.
