Lenoir-Rhyne Women’s Lacrosse Drop Final Non-Conference Game of Season

The Lenoir-Rhyne Women’s Lacrosse team dropped a non-conference tilt Wednesday night at Belmont Abbey 14-4. Anneleise Meyer scored a pair of goals while Sally Friesen made six saves in goal for the Bears.

Chloe Christensen got the Bears on the board to tie it at 1-1. Christensen’s goal was her 15th of the season. Belmont Abbey then scored the next six goals before Meyer and Alexa Burghardt got the Bears within four at halftime.

However Belmont Abbey came out hot after the break and scored the next seven goals before Meyer’s second goal ended the scoring. Madison Brugger added an assist for LR while MaKenna Finnley and Meyer had three ground balls. Friesen made six saves in goal for the Bears. Friesen is up to 114 saves on the year.

This is the second straight year these two teams faced off in Belmont. The Bears have two more road games left in the regular season.

The Bears are 3-10 overall LR will return to SAC play with a trip to Greeneville, Tennessee against Tusculum on Saturday afternoon.
