Lenoir-Rhyne Women’s Golf in Seventh After First Day of SAC Championship

In the first round of a three-round South Atlantic Conference Championship, the Lenoir-Rhyne women’s golf team struggled to an 11th place finish with a team score of 321 on Sunday. The Bears sit at +33 as a team but are just six shots out of sixth place after day one.

Megan Robb, fresh off her first individual championship and SAC Player of the Week award, leads Lenoir-Rhyne with a 78 (+6). Robb had an eagle on hole 11 and two pars but struggled on holes three and six (triple bogeys).

Following Robb was Katie Sibley with a 79 (+7) through the first 18 holes. Sibley had three birdies and an eagle on the afternoon.

Beatriz Espelosin finished with an 81 and Patricia Asensio and Eleni Diakou each shot rounds of 83 on the day.

As a team, the Bears were tremendous on hole 11, firing four eagles and a par.

Round two will take place Monday starting at 9 a.m. as the Bears try to start their comeback. LR trails Tusculum by one shot, Coker and Queens by three, Newberry by four and Catawba by six. The top five after round one are: Limestone, Anderson, Wingate, Lincoln Memorial and Carson-Newman.
