Lenoir-Rhyne Women’s Golf Finish Fourth, Espelosin Leads The Way in Second

The Lenoir-Rhyne Women’s Golf Team records its best finish of the spring season with a fourth place at the Converse Spring Invitational, shooting a team score of 638 (+62).

Beatriz Espelosin took the runner-up spot of the tournament, finishing the event with a 151 (+7) score. The senior was able to move up two spots in the individual leaderboard from the first round to the final round, despite her second-day score (+5) being slightly higher than her first-day score (+2).

After shooting an 83 (+11) round on Monday, Amelia Rae Greenlee turned her tournament around with a 76 (+4) score in the second round. The freshman slid her way into the Top 15 with a 159 (+15) total and parred 23 holes over the two days; the fourth highest among all golfers.

With this result, it becomes the third event that LR has ended in the top five of a tournament. The other two finishes came in the LMU Spring Kickoff and Barton/LMU Invitational at that start of the season.

The hosts, Converse, pulled out the victory by winning the event with a 605 (+29) team score; shooting 13 strokes better than Newberry.

The Lenoir-Rhyne Women’s Golf Team will wrap up their regular season in two weeks for the Lander Bearcat Invitational. The two-day event at Greenwood Country Club will begin on Monday, March 27 at 8:00 a.m.
