Lenoir-Rhyne Women’s Golf Finish Eighth at SAC Championship
The Lenoir-Rhyne Women’s Golf Team ended the SAC Women’s Golf Championship with their best round of the event with a 311 (+23) score, good enough to end the tournament with a 951 (+87) tally and a tie for eighth place.
After having a great turnaround in her performance on Monday, Beatriz Espelosin had an even better improvement in her score with a 72 (E) third round mark. The senior led the way for all LR golfers, as she completed her tournament with a 234 (+18) score to end in a tie for 23rd on the leaderboard.
Marta Escudero managed to hold onto a Top 30 finish with an 80 (+8) tally in the final round. The freshman had a consistent week at the course and even led all Bears through the first two days, but in her first SAC Championship, she was able to pull off a 28th-place result with a 237 (+21) final.
Following her back-to-back 81 (+9) rounds to start the event, Marta Cervero had a bump up on Tuesday as she shot a 76 (+4) in her last 18 holes. The sophomore closed her season with a 238 (+22) score and a tie for 31st place.
Anderson (S.C.) went on to win the SAC Championship with an 865 (+1) score and having shot 34 strokes better than the runners-up, Wingate. The Trojans have now won back-to-back SAC Women’s Golf Championships and earned the automatic qualification to the NCAA Tournament.
