Lenoir-Rhyne Women’s Cross Country Finishes Fourth at SAC Championship

Janet Kwambai finished in second place at the 2022 SAC Championship on Saturday morning at Salisbury Community Park, hosted by Catawba College. Kwambai finished with a time of 22:12, which earned her First-Team All-Conference as the Lenoir-Rhyne Women’s Cross Country Team finished fourth.

Kathrin Polke and Paige Ewald earned All-Conference honors as well. Polke finished in 11th place to earn second team honors while Ewald earned third team all-SAC with her 20th place finish.

Claudia Romagosa finished 23th with a time of 24:03 while Elizabeth Kessler finished 25th just thirteen seconds behind her teammate. All five Bears finished in the top 25, but the Bears finished 4th behind Wingate, Anderson and Catawba on the morning. The Bears finished with 81 points, just three points behind the host Catawba. LR was less than two seconds behind second place Anderson.

The Bears will now turn their attention to the NCAA Regionals hosted by Wingate on November 19th. The top three teams at regionals will qualify for the NCAA Championship in Seattle, Washington.
