The Lenoir-Rhyne women’s basketball team opened the season with a 70-64 loss on the road to Anderson Saturday.
Emily Harman led the Bears with 20 points. The freshman also added six rebounds, two assists and a steal.
The Bears jumped out to a 26-11 lead at the end of the first quarter and had their largest lead of the game late in the first quarter by 15. Anderson rallied to take the lead at the half, outscoring the Bears 27-10 in the second frame. L-R shot a blistering 64 percent from the field (9-of-14) in the first quarter, but cooled off to 25 percent (3-of-12) in the second.
Anderson dominated in bench points, outscoring the Bears 44-11, including 23-5 in the second quarter. The Bears did not have a substitute score in the second half of the contest.
The Bears are 0-1 to start the season. They are scheduled to play Limestone on the road Monday.
