Lenoir-Rhyne Volleyball Wins Fifth Straight With Sweep

The Lenoir-Rhyne volleyball team won its fifth straight with a convincing sweep of UVA Wise on Saturday afternoon. The Bears won by scores of 25-22, 25-17 and 25-21 to move to 10-1 in South Atlantic Conference play.

Emmaleigh Allen led the Bears with 13 kills on the afternoon and Aasia McNeill added 10. Freshman Sydney Karjala continued her standout rookie season with 34 assists and nine digs.
Lyndsie Warren totaled 15 digs, trailing only Allen who had 16 on the day.

Taylor Osborne had eight kills and hit .429, the same figure that Kathy Peter hit on her seven kills.

As a team, the Bears hit .274 and had 45 kills to go with 10 total blocks. Cheynne Clonch had three rejections as well as McNeill. Karjala and Allen each had two aces as the Bears recorded six in the win.

LR has won three straight on the road since dropping a match at Wingate on Sept. 26. Anderson, Wingate and LR are all tied with one loss in the SAC standings. LR beat Anderson and the Trojans beat Wingate. With eight regular season games and at least one SAC Tournament game, the Bears have clinched a winning season.

This will be the 31st winning season in 49 years of LR Volleyball.

The Bears are 16-5 overall, 10-1 in the South Atlantic Conference. LR will return home to host non-conference foe Lander on Tuesday night at 6 p.m.
