Senior Taylor Prall became just the 10th player in Lenoir-Rhyne history to reach 1,000 career kills in a convincing sweep of Carson-Newman on Friday night. Prall entered needing 15 to reach 1K and finished the match with a game-high 18 kills.
Prall had seven of her kills in the first set and added four more in the second. With 1,000 in her sights, she erupted for seven more kills in the final set and added 10 digs for her third double-double in four matches this season.
Colette Romp added seven kills for Lenoir-Rhyne and four digs while Rachel Bewick was a defensive standout with 21 sensational digs. Setters Mackenzie Hulsey and Helen Hamilton combined for 36 assists on the night.
Braelyn Faust dominated the net with eight total blocks and added five kills. Parkley Hennings tied a career-high with 10 digs. Ashley Hawkins added 11 digs and is within striking distance of 1,000 in her career.
Carson-Newman had been perfect on the season before this contest. LR broke a nine match losing streak to the Eagles, winning for the first time since 2017. The Bears outhit Carson-Newman .242 to .067 on the evening.
