Lenoir-Rhyne Volleyball Sweeps Lincoln Memorial
For the second straight day, the Lenoir-Rhyne Volleyball Team swept a South Atlantic Conference foe. After dispatching of Carson-Newman last night, the Bears rolled past Lincoln Memorial in Shuford Arena on Saturday afternoon to run their SAC winning streak to seven in a row.
LR won by counts of 25-17, 25-23 and 25-20 and hit .387 in the first set to set the tone for the afternoon. The Bears used a balanced offense with Emmaleigh Allen (12), Kathy Peter (9), Taylor Osborne (9) and Aasia McNeill (8) combining for 38 kills. Allen added 10 digs for another double-double for the sophomore who continues to lead the conference in kills on the year.
Lyndsie Warren posted a team-high 14 digs and had four assists while setter Sydney Karjala had 35 assists and 11 digs. Allen also led LR with three aces while Peter finished with five blocks, including three solos for the second straight game. LR hit .259 for the game and held the Railsplitters to .154 hitting.
The Bears have won five straight home games over Lincoln Memorial. The Bears are 20-14 all-time against the Railsplitters. With 18 wins, the Bears match their win total from a season ago with five more regular season games left to go.
LR owns a 39-10 record in SAC play over the past two-and-a-half years.
The Bears are 18-6 overall, 12-1 in the South Atlantic Conference. LR will wrap up its four-game home stand with a 7 p.m. contest against Limestone on Tuesday.
