Lenoir-Rhyne Volleyball Sweeps Limestone

The Lenoir-Rhyne Volleyball Team earned their 19th win of the year and wrapped up a four-game home stand with a sweep of Limestone on Tuesday night. The Bears have now won 14 straight over the Saints and haven’t lost to Limestone at home since Oct. 20, 1984.

LR earned the sweep with wins of 25-21, 25-22 and 25-19 and moved to 13-1 in league play. The Bears were led by 14 kills from Aasia McNeill who hit .355 on the night and added 10 digs for a double-double.

Moving into the starting lineup for the first time in her career, sophomore Adair Rodemaker was second on the team with 11 kills and added three digs and a block. Kathy Peter was solid across the board with nine kills, a .471 hitting percentage, three blocks and three digs. Freshman Sydney Karjala had 37 assists and 11 digs and Lyndsie Warren led the Bears with 14 digs.

LR held a 47-32 advantage in kills on the night and 57-40 edge in digs. The Bears out hit Limestone .298 to .200.

The Bears 14 game winning streak over Limestone is the longest active streak against any DII opponent. The Bears and Saints went to five sets in Gaffney earlier this season. LR is now 10-2 at home this year and improve to 40-10 in SAC play over the past two-and-a-half years. The past four LR victories have come in straight sets.

The Bears are 19-6 overall, 13-1 SAC. LR will hit the road for the first time since Oct. 14 when they travel to Catawba on Saturday for a 12:30 p.m. match.
