Lenoir-Rhyne Volleyball Sweeps Emory and Henry

The Lenoir-Rhyne Volleyball Team opened its five-game homestand with a 3-0 victory over Emory & Henry on Friday night. The Bears extended their home winning streak to 14 in a row, a program record. Lenoir-Rhyne took the match with set wins of 25-18, 25-13 and 25-17 to get back on the winning track after their six-game winning streak was snapped at Wingate.

The Bears hit .236 as a team and held the Wasps to just an .050 hitting percentage.

Reigning SAC Player of the Week Emmaleigh Allen led the way with nine kills on 17 attempts for a .471 hitting percentage. Allen has hit over .400 in three matches this season, including two of her past three contests.

Colette Romp had eight kills and hit a team-high .533. Romp’s .533 hitting percentage is a career-high.

Emma Clark hit .429 with five kills on seven swings and added four blocks while Ashley Hawkins registered four kills, eight digs, two blocks and three aces to stuff the stat sheet. With her four blocks, Clark now has 130 for her career.

Mackenzie Husley had 23 assists and five digs and Bailey Carpenter led the squad with nine digs.

The Wasps finished with 25 errors and 30 kills on the evening and were led by 12 kills from Camden Jones.

This was the first all-time meeting between the two programs as Emory & Henry is in their first year reclassifying from Division III to the SAC.

This is the sixth three-set victory for LR this season.

The Bears improve to 9-4 overall, 5-1 in the South Atlantic Conference.
