The Lenoir-Rhyne volleyball continued play at the UNC-Pembroke Invitational on Saturday. Day two started early for LR who took on Felician (0-6) at 10 a.m. on Saturday. The early start didn’t slow LR who cruised past Felician by counts of 25-12, 25-11 and 25-23. Hawkins and Allen combined for 23 kills and Braelyn Faust had eight kills and a sparkling .538 hitting percentage. Eight different players had a kill in the match and Carpenter would add 19 digs. LR hit .337 in the match, the second-best percentage in a game on the young season.
LR would close the weekend with another convincing 3-0 victory, this time over East Stroudsburg (3-5). Colette Romp was the leader for the Bears in the finale, totaling 13 kills on 23 attempts and a .435 hitting percentage. Rachel Wildermuth had 18 assists and 10 digs and added a pair of service aces in the contest.
With the weekend, LR moves to 4-3 on the season with all seven of those contests coming outside of Hickory. The Bears will finally open their home slate on Tuesday night when North Greenville comes to town for a 6 p.m. first serve. LR will put its 12 match home winning streak on the line against the Crusaders.
