Lenoir-Rhyne Volleyball Improves to 7-1 in SAC Play With Sweep of Catawba

The Lenoir-Rhyne Volleyball Team swept Catawba 3-0 to run its winning streak to 16 in a row inside Shuford Arena. Colette Romp had a career night with a .643 hitting percentage as the Bears moved to 7-1 in league play. In addition, Romp finished the evening with a match-high 11 kills on just 14 swings and added four digs and a pair of blocks.

Emmaleigh Allen was second on the squad with seven kills and also added four digs. Ashley Hawkins had three aces on the night.

LR hit a season-high .351 as a team in the victory. The two teams combined for 21 service errors in the three sets.

No player reached double figures in kills for the visitors who were led by nine from Rachel Gonzales.

This is the second time this month that the Bears swept Catawba. The two teams will meet three times this year with the unbalanced schedule. LR has won 10 straight over the Indians, the longest winning streak in series history. LR last lost to Catawba in 2016.

LR has started its five game home stand with a 3-0 record and three sweeps.

The Bears are 11-4 overall, 7-1 in the South Atlantic Conference. LR will return to action on Friday when they host Mars Hill at 6 p.m.
