Lenoir-Rhyne Volleyball Falls to Augusta

In the finale of the USC Aiken weekend tournament, the Lenoir-Rhyne Volleyball Team dropped a three-setter against Augusta on Saturday afternoon. This was a rematch of the 2021 NCAA Southeast Regional Final.

Aasia McNeill was the offensive leader for LR, leading the Bears with eight kills and a .222 hitting percentage. McNeill added eight digs. Sydney Karjala had another double-double, registering 18 assists and 12 digs.

Emmaleigh Allen tied Karjala for the team lead in digs with 12 but was held to three kills. Cheyenne Clonch had a pair of blocks.

Augusta hit .237 as a squad and nine different players had at least one kill. Augusta totaled 21 blocks in the contest and held LR to an .010 hitting percentage.

This is the 18th all-time meeting between LR and Augusta with the Bears holding a 7-11 record. This is the fifth straight win for the Jaguars over LR.

The Bears and Jaguars met once in Aiken, S.C. prior to this contest, back in 2001 where LR came away with a 3-0 sweep. Augusta won all three of their matches this weekend while LR went 1-2.

The Bears are 5-3 on the season. LR will return to South Atlantic Conference play on Tuesday night when they travel to Newberry for a 6 p.m. match. That will be the first of three road matches for LR next week.
