Lenoir-Rhyne Volleyball Falls in SAC Tournament Semifinals

The Lenoir-Rhyne Volleyball Team fell to top-seeded Wingate in three sets at the Rock Hill Sports & Events Center on Wednesday afternoon. Wingate advances to the final while the Bears will have to tune in to the NCAA Selection Show to see if they are in the tournament field.

Wingate took the match by scores of 25-21, 25-21 and 25-17 to earn the victory. Wingate held a 53-31 advantage in kills while the Bears had a 6-2 edge in aces.

Aasia McNeill led LR with eight kills while Cheyenne Clonch had seven kills and hit .357. Taylor Osborne had six kills with a .313 hitting percentage. Sydney Karjala recorded a double-double with 18 assists and 12 digs to go with a pair of aces.

Lyndsie Warren had 17 digs for the Bears. Gabby Saye had 11 kills for Wingate and Maggie Young had nine and three digs.

LR dropped both matches against Wingate this year in straight sets. The Bears were announced as the 8-seed in the NCAA Regional Rankings announced right before first serve. Only eight teams from the region make the NCAA Tournament.

LR, 21-10 overall, will find out its postseason fate when the NCAA Selection Show airs on NCAA.com next Monday.
