Lenoir-Rhyne Track and Field Earns 20 All-Region Honors
A program record 20 Lenoir-Rhyne student-athletes were named to the All-Region team as announced by the USTFCCCA. The 20 athletes earned accolades across 37 events and helped the Bears to one of the most successful seasons in program history.
On the men’s side, Dario Matau led the way with All-Region honors in the 4×100 relay, 100m dash, 200m dash and 400m dash. He was one of 10 male student-athletes to earn All-Region status and was joined by Jacob Wadsworth (4×100 relay and long jump), Trent Davis (4×100 relay, 200m dash), Orlando Descartes (high jump, javelin) and Lucas Besong (4×100 relay, 400m dash) to earn All-Region in multiple events.
The female’s had 10 individuals named All-Region across 10 events. The 4×100 relay team of Alexis Brown, Molly McGrath, Melody Jones and Holly Kone which will be the first female relay team in LR history to advance to the NCAA meet led the way for the ladies.
The Bears will now turn their attention to the NCAA meet which starts on Thursday.
