Lenoir-Rhyne Track and Field Competes at App State Invitational

The Lenoir-Rhyne Men’s and Women’s Track and Field Teams used their final regular season event as an opportunity for individuals to improve their times, prior to next week’s SAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

Starting with the men, Jacob Wadsworth recorded a third-place finish in the men’s 400-meter hurdles after recording a time of 53.91 seconds.

In the men’s 3000-meter steeplechase, the Bears earned a couple of Top 5 finishes as Lewis Budgen (10:30.75) and Noah Julian (10:39.59) finished fourth and fifth, respectively.

On the women’s track, Alexis Taylor participated in the 1500-meter run and registered a tenth-place finish after posting a 6:00.42 result.

Sticking with the women’s team, it was a busy weekend in the field, and it was led by Olivia Jackson who secured a fifth-place result in the women’s shot put after a 11.31-meter toss. In the women’s long jump, Sofia Ulanday soared into sixth place after covering 5.10 meters.

LR also had a couple of solid results in the women’s discus throw after performances from Marlesia Walker and Savannah Nippa. With a throw of 33.46 meters, Walker placed seventh in the event while Nippa just placed in the Top 10 with a tenth-place toss of 29.47 meters.

The Lenoir-Rhyne Men’s and Women’s Track and Field Teams will return to action on Wednesday, May 3 for the 2023 SAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The two-day event will be hosted by Anderson University in Anderson, S.C.
