Lenoir-Rhyne Swimming Sends Two to Nationals

Lisa Boernigen and Micah McRea are preparing to make history as the duo is preparing for their fourth straight trip to Nationals next week. This year’s NCAA championship will be held March 7 through March 11 at Indiana University Natatorium in Indianapolis, Indiana. This is the first time in program history, the Lenoir-Rhyne Swimming Team will be sending student-athletes to the NCAA Championship for a fourth straight season.

Boernigen, a senior from Munchen Germany qualified for the 200 IM this year. Boernigen best time this season in the 200 IM was 2:03.12. In 2021, Boernigen earned All-American status in the same 200 IM event with a time of 2:04.71 as Boernigen finished 16th. Boernigen will look to improve on her 30th place finish from last year championship as Boernigen will look to finish her career with her second All-American honors.

McRea, a senior from Hickory, N.C. qualified for the 200 and 400 IM for next week championship. McRea’s fastest time this season in the 400 IM is 3:51.91 which is almost a second faster then last year time at Nationals, which earned McRea All-American honors for the second straight year. In 2021, McRea earned All-American honors in both the 200 and 400 IM along with the 100 Breast. McRea is looking for add his fifth All-American honors to his mantle.

The duo’s first NCAA Championship was in 2020 in Geneva, Ohio then completed for the 2021 championship in Birmingham Alabama before making the short trip to Greensboro for last year championship.
