Lenoir-Rhyne Sweeps Women’s Weekly Track and Field SAC Awards

The South Atlantic Conference announced its WePlayed Sports Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week for meets contested during the first week of competition. Lenoir-Rhyne swept the weekly awards as Sharonda Priester was named the Track Athlete of the Week and Holly Kone was named the Field Athlete of the Week.

Priester, a freshman, competed in the LR Bears Open this past weekend. She recorded a new school record with a first-place time of 1:03.49 in the 400-meter hurdles and recorded a second-place time of 14.92 in the 100-meter hurdles. Priester ranks No. 1 in the SAC in the 400-meter hurdles and No. 2 in the 200-meter hurdles.

Kone, a junior from Nottingham, England, recorded a 12.05-meter leap in the triple jump at the LR Bears Open, hitting an NCAA DII Provisional mark. She currently ranks No. 1 in the SAC and No. 2 in the region in the event.
