Lenoir-Rhyne Softball’s Wall Named Conference Freshman of the Year

Lenoir-Rhyne’s Cassidy Wall was named South Atlantic Conference Freshman of the Year, the SAC Office announced today.

Wall, a freshman catcher/utility player from Davidson, N.C., had an outstanding start to her collegiate career for the Bears. She batted .359 for the season while adding 16 doubles, eight home runs, 33 runs scored and 48 runs batted in on the season. She also had a .408 on-base percentage and a .615 slugging percentage.

The Bears had three members named to the All-Conference team, outfielder Savannah Moorfield, catcher Kylee Leonhardt and pitcher Lauren Rakes. Rakes was the conference leader in strikeouts per seven innings with 11.1.

Wall led the Bears on the all-conference second team, along with second baseman Julia Mardigian, and third baseman Hannah Jennings. Pitcher Morgan Beeler was the lone Bear named to the all-conference third team.

The SAC Softball Awards will be presented at the 2022 SAC Softball Championship at Lincoln Memorial’s Dorothy Neely Softball Complex in Harrogate, Tenn, and will take place at the conclusion of game #2 on Friday, April 29 to honor the softball regular season award recipients.
