Lenoir-Rhyne Softball Earns Four All-Region Honors, Beeler Named Regional Pitcher of the Year
The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) and Division 2 Conference Commissioners Association All-Region (D2CCA) teams have been announced with four Lenoir-Rhyne softball players earning the accolades, highlighted by senior Morgan Beeler being named D2CCA Regional Pitcher of the Year. Beeler was a consensus First Team All-Region selection while Talon LaClair joined her on the D2CCA First Team. LaClair was a Second Team selection in the NFCA All-Region announcement and was joined by Lauren Rakes. Katelyn Rackard was a Second Team honoree in the D2CCA awards.
Beeler nearly won the SAC pitching triple crown, leading the league in wins and strikeouts and finishing third in ERA. Beeler is the SAC Pitcher of the Year and Regional Pitcher of the Year and earned a spot on the National Pitcher of the Year ballot. She finished the year with a 23-5 record and five saves and struck out 204 batters in her 179.1 innings pitched. Beeler tossed a no-hitter against No. 17 Wingate back on March 14, her second career no-hitter.
LaClair hit .399 with a 1.240 OPS for the Bears and broke a program-record with a 10 RBI game against Lincoln Memorial. LaClair finished the season with 13 HR and 53 RBI and struck out just 14 times.
Rakes hit .311 with nine HR and 28 RBI and threw 84.2 innings before an injury shut her down. Rakes posted a 9-4 record with 121 strikeouts and a 3.06 ERA.
Rackard led LR with a .428 batting average and scored 53 runs. She hit a career-high 11 HR and drove in 37 runs while swiping 17 bases in 19 attempts.
