Lenoir-Rhyne Softball Defeats Lock Haven

The finale of the Bear Bash saw Lenoir-Rhyne get home runs from Katelyn Rackard and Talon LaClair and Cassidy Wall drove in four runs as the Bears defeated Lock Haven 10-2 in six innings. Morgan Beeler earned the win as the Bears improved to 15-1 overall and went 3-0 this weekend at the Bear Bash.

The Bears pushed across three runs in the bottom of the first. After a leadoff walk to Katelyn Rackard, Talon LaClair moved her over with a base hit to right. Cassidy Wall brought them both home with a double to left center and would score herself on an errant throw.

A pair of run-scoring singles in the top of the third by the Bald Eagles drew them within one at 3-2. Wall would knock in her third run of the game with a single in the bottom half of the third to give the Bears a 4-2 edge.

Wall would continue to add to her RBI total with a single to left that scored Kaylan Brown in the bottom of the fourth to put LR up 6-2. Lauren Jackson, who had an RBI single in the third, drove in another run in the fifth with a rocket off the left center fence to plate Julia Mardigian and it was 7-2 after four.

Rackard started the bottom of the sixth with a bomb to left center, her fourth of the year and seventh of her career. After a base hit by Mardigian, LaClair crushed a 1-1 pitch over the wall in right for her 20th career bomb.

Wall finished 2-of-2 with four RBIs and LaClair and Mardigian each scored three times.

Rackard came into the game  hitting .625 during her five game hitting streak and came a homer shy of the cycle against Johnson C. Smith Friday.

The Bears moved to 150-30 since 2015 when they score first. The Bears scored 20 runs in the first inning on this five game home stand.

Wall has now reached base in 15 straight games and this was her second career 4-RBI game.

The Bears are 15-1. LR will open SAC play with a doubleheader at Limestone on Wednesday. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 PM from Gaffney, S.C.
