Lenoir-Rhyne Softball Coaching Staff Named Region Staff of the Year

Following a historic season, the Lenoir-Rhyne Softball coaching staff was selected by their peers as the 2024 ATEC/NFCA Southeast Regional Coaching Staff of the Year, as announced Friday afternoon.

Led by Shena Hollar, who recently completed her 25th season in Hickory, N.C., and her assistant, Emily Kenley, the Bears captured the program’s first ever Women’s College World Series berth in addition to being one of the final four teams standing this season.

The Bears had a plethora of highlights in 2024, which included their first ever Southeast Super Regional title as the Bears defeated the reigning national champion North Georgia Nighthawks. LR also won six extra-inning games this postseason and at one point won six straight one-run games, all coming in the SAC Tournament. LR won 52 games this year, good enough for second most in program history.

Hollar also won her 1000th career game earlier this season. She will enter the 2025 season just 22 wins shy of 1000 here at Lenoir-Rhyne.
