Lenoir-Rhyne Men’s Soccer Picks Up Win

The No.24 Lenoir-Rhyne Men’s Soccer Team completed the sweep of Coker with a 3-1 win over the Cobras on Thursday afternoon. Three different players scored goals for LR who remains unbeaten on the year.

In 7th minute, the Bears struck first on a goal as Jamie de Manuel found the back of the net with assists being credited to Victor Cascon and David Sdzuy. The goal was the first of the season for de Manuel. With 35 seconds left in the first half, Noah Tiefel scored off a header with the assist going to Benjamin Gnieser.

The first half ended with LR hold a 12-2 lead in shots and a 7-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Coker scored their first goal of the year with just over seven minutes left in the game. Alexandros Doulod put in his own rebound to draw Coker within one. Sdzuy iced the match with a goal with 68 seconds remaining off an assist from Cascon.

With inclement weather in the forecast the games were moved to Pepsi Regional Soccer Complex, which have turf fields to help handle the rainfall we have received this week. The match started after a 92-minute lightning delay.

The duo of Jaime Poza and Victor Cascon have been red hot this year. Poza entered the contest second in all DII in assists with four while Cascon is ninth with four goals on the year.

Lenoir-Rhyne are 3-0-1 overall and in the conference. The Bears will travel to Catawba Thursday at 7:30pm
