Lenoir-Rhyne Men’s Track and Field Earn SAC Weekly Awards

The South Atlantic Conference announced its WePlayed Sports Men’s Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week for meets contested during the fifth week of competition. Lenoir-Rhyne swept the awards as Bamidele Ajayi was named the Track Athlete of the Week and Philip Stomne was named the Field Athlete of the Week.

Ajayi, a freshman, was the top collegiate finisher in the Men’s 400-meter dash, recording a time of 47.70 at the South Carolina Invitational over the weekend. His time is good for the No. 1 rank in the SAC and sits No. 12 in Division II. Ajayi also ran a leg in the winning 4×400-meter relay. Their time of 3:12.56 ranks No. 1 in the SAC and No. 7 in Division II.

Stomne, a senior from Valbo, Sweden, placed third in the Men’s Heptathlon with 4907 points at the VMI Winter Relays. His efforts placed him No. 1 in the SAC in the Heptathlon and at No. 23 in Division II.
