Lenoir-Rhyne Men’s Tennis Defeats Emory & Henry on the Road

The Lenoir-Rhyne Men’s Tennis Team got back to its winning ways as the Bears dominated their match over Emory & Henry in a 6-1 victory.

At the start, the Bears and Wasps competed tightly in doubles. The No. 2 duo of Zachary Cox and Mattias Selde got the day going as the pair recorded a 6-1 result.

While the Wasps were able to bring one back with a victory at No. 3 doubles, the No. 1 team of Rufus Plane and Vadym Rogynskyi clutched out a 6-4 result to give the Bears the first point of match.

Transitioning into singles, Joel Hemmings won his second match of the season with a straight-set decision at No. 6 singles. The senior from Nottingham, England cruised past his opposition with a 6-1, 6-1 result.

At the No. 4 line, Plane secured another straight-set victory for the Bears in a 6-3, 6-0 outcome. The sophomore from Cardiff, Wales, has won eight-straight matches for the Bears.

Clinching the match for the Bears was Cox, who produced another straight-set victory for the Bears. The junior from Peterborough, England, won his seventh match of the season at the No. 2 line with a 6-2, 7-5 result. For matches played at the No. 2 spot in the order, Cox is 3-1.

Although the victory was already in the books for the Bears, that did not slow them down as Rogynskyi steamrolled through his opponent with a 6-0, 6-1 result. With the win, Rogynskyi has now won 10-straight matches for the Bears.

To wrap up the winning results for the Bears was Raphael Champaud, who won a pro-set style match at No. 5 singles. The sophomore from Chandolas, France won his eighth match of the season with a 8-1 victory.
