Lenoir-Rhyne Men’s Soccer Makes NCAA Tournament
For the third season in a row, the Lenoir-Rhyne Men’s Soccer Team has been selected to the NCAA Tournament.
The Bears were listed as the No. 9 seed in Super Region Two and will square off against No. 8 seeded Clayton State at Gaffney, S.C. This will be the sixth all-time NCAA Tournament appearance with all coming since 2006.
The Bears went on an seven-match unbeaten streak that ranged from Oct. 4 through the end of the regular season on Nov. 1. LR earned the No. 3 seed in the SAC Tournament and won a quarterfinal match against Catawba, 2-1, to advance to the SAC semifinals. LR is led by First Team All-SAC Ivan Rubio, Second Team All-SAC members Adrian Martina and Harri Rowe, and Third Team All-SAC Oliver Gardner.
LR is scheduled to begin its NCAA Men’s Soccer Tournament on Thursday, Nov. 16 at 6 p.m. The winner of its contest against Clayton State will advance to face No. 1 seed Limestone, the program that bounced the Bears out of the SAC Men’s Soccer Tournament in a 1-0 result during the semifinal round. That match is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 18 at 6 p.m.
